Licenciada en Informática por la Universidad de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria – Doctora con mención europea por la Universidad de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria en el programa de doctorado en Sistemas Inteligentes y Aplicaciones Numéricas en Ingeniería (SIANI).

Experiencia Profesional

María Dolores Afonso Suárez es Licenciada en Informática y Doctora por la Universidad de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC), en el Departamento de Informática y Sistemas e Instituto Universitario de Sistemas Inteligentes y Aplicaciones Numéricas en Ingeniería (SIANI), respectivamente. Ha desarrollado su carrera profesional como ingeniera de software en empresas privadas de carácter nacional e internacional y como profesora en la ULPGC, en el Departamento de Informática y Sistemas.

Actualmente es además miembro investigador del Instituto Universitario de Investigaciones Biomédicas y Sanitarias (iUIBS) de la ULPGC, donde trabaja como Ingeniero de Software en el proyecto MACbioIDi. Entre sus áreas de investigación de interés se encuentran: la ingeniería de aplicaciones software para el tratamiento de imágenes médicas y aplicaciones web.

Professional Experience

María Dolores Afonso Suárez received her Computer Science Degree and her Ph.D. from the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC) and the University Institute of Intelligent Systems and Numeric Applications in Engineering (SIANI) of the ULPGC, respectively. She has been working as a software engineer in private companies and as a professor at the ULPGC, in the Software Engineering Department.

She is currently also assigned as a licensed fellow researcher to the University Institute of Biomedical and Health Research (IUIBS) of the ULPGC, working as a software engineer in the MACbioIDi project. Her work and research interests include the engineering of software for medical image computing and web applications.
