III International MACbioIDi Workshop for scientists and researchers from Africa, America and Europe

The MACbioIDi project celebrates the 28th and 29th of January the III International Workshop MACbioIDi where international professionals of the medicine and the engineering will carry out training activities and will share their knowledge for the design of projects of Research and development of sustainable technology applied to health sciences as a central axis. In particular, they are invited to participate in the development of the meeting of eleven directors of hospitals and universities in Senegal, Mauritania, Cape Verde and Canada, strategic countries in the development of the project.

The inauguration ceremony will take place on Monday 28 January at 16:00 hours, at Casa Africa, by the Director of Casa Africa, Luis Padrón; Juan Ruiz Alzola, director of the MACbioIDi project; Ron Kikinis, director of the Surgical Planning Laboratory at Brigham & Women's de Boston-Facultad de Medicina de la Universidad de Harvard, y Director del Instituto Fraunhofer MEVIS de Medina Digital en Alemania; Hospital Gonzalo Piernavieja, vice of industry, energy and commerce of the Government of the Canary Islands; Rafael Robaina, rector of the ULPGC; and José Manuel Baltar, Minister of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands.

MACbioIDi, a project directed by Juan Ruiz Alzola, professor of the ULPGC in signal theory and communications, has organized this work meeting between the international researchers of the project and its African partners to transmit the progress in the Medical imaging technology and its future applications. During the Workshop, where there will be interpretation in several languages, training workshops and group work will be held on the progress of the project and the implementation of the 3DSlicer technology, in this way MACbioIdi is consolidated as an international node of Technology transfer in which some of the world's best experts will participate.

The III international Workshop MACbioIDi will be the meeting point of scientific, academic, sanitary and business entities of the Canary Islands and the rest of Spain, Madeira, Azores, Cape Verde, Senegal, Mozambique, Mauritania, USA and Europe, countries involved in the Development and implantation of medical technology of free software, fundamentally, to use them in their sanitary systems.

They are beneficiaries of the project La ULPGC (as Coordinator), ULL, IAC, ITC, M-ITI (Madeira), and Hospital do Divino Espirito Santo (Azores). The celebration of the event has the collaboration of the Canarian Health Service, through the health ministry, and Proexca from the Ministry of Economy, Industry, commerce and knowledge of the Government of the Canary Islands, as well as Casa Africa and the Elder Museum of the Science and technology of the palms of Gran Canaria.

30th NAMIC Project Week

In parallel to the development of the III International Workshop MACbioIDi is held in Gran Canaria the 30th NAMIC project Week in which researchers also participate in the MACbioIDi project. The international event starts in the humanities building of the ULPGC, on Monday 28 January, at 11:00 hours with the presence of the Vice-rector of internationalization and cooperation of the ULPGC, Richard Clouet; And professor of ULPGC in signal theory and communications, Juan Ruiz Alzola. The media interested in the meeting are invited to attend the opening ceremony as well as the development of the conference where they will be able, on request, interviews to the main participating researchers. The simultaneous celebration of both events facilitates the synergy between both and the participation of international experts in tasks of interest to the MACbioIDi project.
