If we think of science throughout history, it's usually a male image that comes to mind. Famous scientists and researchers are mostly men and the role of women is often relegated to the background. Centuries ago, there were many women who had no chance to learn to calculate or to read, much less to go to college. But some, despite the difficulties, succeeded. Although little known, throughout history the contribution of many of them has served as inspiration and foundation to the science of today.
