Cape Verde October 2017

Participation in the World Forum of Local Economic Development and meetings with professors of the University of Praia and with different entities and public institutions.

During the visit to Praia, Mr. Juan Ruiz Alzola, Principal Investigator of the MACbioIDi project and of the Project Manager, Ms. Asmaa Skareb, formalize different work meetings taking advantage of the participation in the World Forum of Local Economic Development that took place in the Cape Verdean capital from October 17th to 20th, 2017.

The first of these meetings was held with the Vice Chancellor of the University of Praia, Sonia Victoria and the professor of the Faculty of Technology and Science, Joao Gomes seeking the collaboration of this academic institution in the tasks that MACbioIDi will develop in the islands.

The second day of the visit, it was the moment for the presentation developed by Mr. Juan Ruiz Alzola in the World Forum of Local Economic Development about the activities that MACbioIDi develops both in the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and in the different venues of the partners. This Forum is shaped as a space for critical thinking and promotion of creative discussions on how we can deal with growing disparities and achieve a fairer sustainable development. The day concluded with a visit to the Agostinho Neto Hospital for a working meeting with Dr. Idelmira Da Veiga.

Finally, on October 19, it was time for the visit to the Campus Palmarejo of the University of Praia. Afterwards, they met the professors of Computer Science and Medicine of the University where the project was introduced to them in the Faculty of Science and Technology.
