Professor Juan Ruiz Alzola presents the INTERREG MACbioIDi project at the IEEE Global humanitarian technology Conference in Silicon Valley (San José), with the paper "Train the trainers: Medical Technology for the sustainable Development of Africa".
This research work has been jointly developed by professors from several university institutions: the Eduardo Mondlane University, the University of Nouackott Al-Aasriya, the University of Harvard and the University of Las Palmas of Gran Canaria. As well as several medical institutions: the Agostinho Neto Hospital, the Insular Hospital complex of Gran Canaria and the Military School of Medicine of Dakar.
It is a work that emphasizes the importance of university and postgraduate education in Africa. These programs are a clear reflection of the actions that develop within the MACBIOIDI project in order to introduce sustainable medical technology in the countries involved. Training programs on the treatment of medical images with the 3DSlicer platform, an initiative of Harvard University under the direction of Professor Ron Kikinis.
